Meet Mickey—a resilient, sensitive, and incredibly sweet 10-month-old German Shepherd puppy who’s ready for his true fresh start.

Mickey’s journey began on a quiet country road, where he was found alongside what’s believed to be his mom and brother. Despite that uncertain start, Mickey has shown nothing but heart and potential every step of the way.

In his first foster home, he took just a couple of days to adjust to indoor life—understandable for a pup who had likely never experienced a home before. Once he settled in, his true personality began to shine. He lived peacefully with 10 other dogs and got along beautifully with everyone, showing he has a naturally social and friendly nature with other pups.

During transport to Florida, Mickey continued to prove what a good boy he is. Like many young dogs, he was a bit nervous at first, but he handled the journey well. He walks nicely on a leash, had no accidents indoors, and showed excellent house manners during an overnight stay. He may need a little encouragement getting in and out of the car, but he’s learning quickly.

Mickey recently found himself in an overwhelming situation during an attempted adoption, where another overly excited dog rushed him before he even had a chance to decompress. Despite that, Mickey simply communicated his discomfort appropriately—advocating for himself in a stressful moment.

Since then, he’s been decompressing in a calm environment and is already making progress. He’s beginning to venture out more confidently, happily going outside for walks and potty breaks. While loud traffic can still make him a bit unsure, he’s showing every sign that with patience, consistency, and a loving home, he will absolutely thrive.

At his core, Mickey is “sweet as pie”—a gentle, good-natured boy who just needs a little time to feel safe. With the right family willing to give him the space and reassurance he deserves, Mickey is going to blossom into an incredible companion.
